Heavenly Father, we gather here today to dedicate this highway marker which honors the lives of our Terryville ancestors. They were survivors of enslavement, and pillars of strength in times of great adversity. We dedicate this marker as a testament to their enduring spirit, hard work and as a reminder of their contributions to the Terryville community and to the lives of their decedents.
May this marker serve as a beacon of hope for future generations, inspiring them to learn from the past, embrace their heritage, and strive for a brighter future. May it be a place of solace for those who mourn and a symbol of unity for all who seek to understand the rich tapestry of our history.
Although the town of Terryville has faded, we pray for the continued preservation of the cemetery, a sacred space, a place where the souls of our ancestors may find eternal peace. May their legacy live on through the generations to come. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
